Short answer: To analyze hundreds of sales conversations with Claude or ChatGPT, connect the assistant directly to where the conversations live. Samu MCP connects Claude, ChatGPT or another compatible agent to your team's WhatsApp chats and voice notes, phone calls, in-person meetings and video calls, organized by deal and limited to what each user can already see.
Quarterly board meeting. Someone asks why demo-to-proposal conversion dropped last quarter. The VP of Sales has one theory, product has another and marketing suspects lead quality. Nobody has data. The answers sit in three months of customer conversations: some video calls, hundreds of phone calls, site visits and thousands of WhatsApp messages and voice notes. Nobody read them. Someone suggests pasting a few transcripts into ChatGPT, and the meeting ends with a debate about whether that's allowed.
Quick summary:
- The answers to most sales questions already exist in your team's conversations. Nobody has time to read them.
- Pasting transcripts into ChatGPT one by one doesn't scale, loses deal context and puts customer data in places the company doesn't control.
- A notetaker connected to ChatGPT only sees video calls. In many markets, deals also move over WhatsApp, the phone and face-to-face meetings.
- MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to the systems where data lives.
- Samu MCP connects Claude or ChatGPT to all of those conversations, with each connection limited to its user's permissions and an admin panel to revoke access. It's available from the Pro plan.
Why doesn't anyone analyze sales conversations?
Few teams listen to customers systematically, for four reasons.
1. Volume beats any human
Ten reps can easily produce 300 to 400 meetings a month, plus calls and chats. A manager reviewing two or three meetings a week is looking at less than 5%. As one sales manager told us: "If I review 2 chats a day, I'm not even reviewing 10%." The patterns that only show up across many conversations get lost.
2. Copy and paste doesn't scale
Pasting one transcript into ChatGPT works for a summary. To answer "which objections come up in negotiation?" you'd need a hundred, and assistants have context limits. Each transcript also arrives without its deal, stage or WhatsApp history, so the answer is partial and hard to reproduce.
3. Data risk ends up with each rep
When each person pastes customer conversations into a personal assistant account, the company loses track of where that data goes. Policies depend on the plan: OpenAI says it doesn't train on ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu data by default, and Anthropic says the same about its commercial products. Personal accounts can have different terms, and nobody knows what was shared.
4. The assistant only sees what was captured
Most tools that plug into Claude or ChatGPT today are notetakers: a bot joins the video call, transcribes and summarizes. That works if your deals run on Zoom or Meet. Many teams in Latin America, India, Spain, the Middle East and Africa sell mostly elsewhere. One sales manager described his team's mix to us as "WhatsApp 95%, face-to-face 4% or 5%."
If the assistant only sees video calls, the pricing objection in a WhatsApp voice note, the plant visit and the phone call where the buyer asked to push the decision all stay out. The answer is skewed, and nobody notices.

What is MCP, and what is a sales MCP?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that Anthropic introduced in November 2024 to connect AI assistants with the systems where data lives. The official documentation describes it as a USB-C port for AI applications: one standard way to plug Claude, ChatGPT and other tools into external data, without a custom integration for every pair.
A sales MCP is an MCP server that exposes sales data (deals, meetings, calls, chats) to those assistants. You ask a question in plain language in the assistant you already use, the assistant requests the data from the MCP server and answers with it. Nobody copies anything.
How does Samu MCP work?
Samu MCP is built on what Samu already captures. The difference from a notetaker is coverage: Samu records the channels where sales actually happen and ties them to the same deal.
| Channel | How it gets into Samu | What you can ask afterward |
|---|---|---|
| WhatsApp (chats, voice notes, groups) | QR code or Chrome extension on WhatsApp Web, no Business API. Reps choose chat by chat what syncs. Voice notes are transcribed. | Which objections show up in chat, which buyers went quiet, what was promised in a voice note. |
| Phone calls | Integrated telephony (HubSpot Calling, Aircall, Anura), including unanswered calls. WhatsApp calls through the desktop app. | How each rep opens a cold call, how many attempts before connecting, what was agreed by phone. |
| In-person meetings | Mobile app, or uploading a recording. | What happened at the site visit, who attended, what each side committed to. |
| Video calls | Zoom, Meet and Teams with a calendar bot, or the desktop app with no bot. | The usual notetaker questions, inside the full deal context. |
| Synced from HubSpot or Salesforce for open deals. | What was sent after each meeting and what went unanswered. |
Ask about a deal and the assistant sees the demo, the WhatsApp voice notes and the closing meeting as one thread.
Connect Claude or ChatGPT
Each user adds Samu as a connector in their assistant and can then ask about deals and all their interactions. Setup depends on the assistant. Claude supports custom connectors using remote MCP on its Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans; on Team and Enterprise, an owner adds the connector for the organization. In ChatGPT, custom MCP connections run through developer mode, with full support on Business and Enterprise/Edu once an admin enables it.
Each connection sees only what its user can see
Samu's permissions carry over. If a rep sees only their own deals in Samu and a manager sees their team's, their connected assistants see exactly that. Connecting ChatGPT opens nothing the person didn't already have in the app.
One panel to see and cut connections
From the admin panel you see which users connected which assistants and can revoke any connection. When someone leaves or changes roles, you cut access from one place.
Or stay inside Samu
If your company doesn't use Claude or ChatGPT, or prefers data to stay on the platform, Chat with Samu answers the same kinds of questions about meetings, WhatsApp with transcribed voice notes and deals, with access to your knowledge base (playbooks, price lists).
Which questions should you ask your sales conversations?
These work in Claude, ChatGPT or Chat with Samu. The first three only have an answer if the assistant sees more than video calls. Always ask the assistant to name the conversations behind each conclusion so you can check them.
WhatsApp, phone and in-person
- "Which buyers with open deals stopped replying on WhatsApp in the last two weeks, and what was our last message?"
- "In this month's WhatsApp chats and voice notes, which objections appear that don't appear in meetings?"
- "Summarize this week's site visits: who each rep met, what was agreed and what's pending on the customer side."
Sales manager
- "Which deals in negotiation have no economic buyer identified?"
- "Which commitments did my team make last week, in meetings, calls or WhatsApp, that are still open?"
VP of Sales
- "What are the 5 most frequent objections this quarter, and at what stage do they appear?"
- "Which competitors did we lose to this quarter, and what reasons did buyers give?"
Marketing, product and customer success
- "How do buyers describe their problem in first meetings? Give me verbatim phrases."
- "What did sales promise [customer] during the cycle, including on WhatsApp? List each commitment with its source conversation."
How do you go from a debate to a list of causes?
One customer used the chat to analyze many meetings at once about a problem the team kept arguing over. Their summary: "It gave me 8 causes." Seeing them together, with frequency and source conversations, let them choose where to start. A workflow that repeats well:
- Ask broad. "Why do deals stall after we send the proposal? Review the last 90 days of conversations."
- Ask for structure. "Group the causes, rank them by frequency and give two examples of each with the source meeting."
- Verify. Open two or three cited conversations and confirm the cause was read correctly.
- Turn it into action. "For the top three causes, which open deals show the same signal today?"
What will your security team ask?
- Inherited permissions. Each connection sees only what its user can see in Samu. There's no master key.
- Visibility and revocation. The admin panel lists active connections and lets you cut them.
- Control over capture. On WhatsApp, reps choose chat by chat what syncs, and the account can ignore entire numbers. What isn't in Samu isn't available through MCP.
- Assistant policy. What the assistant does with data depends on the provider and plan. Connect Samu from business accounts of Claude or ChatGPT, not personal ones.
- Certification. Samu's Enterprise plan includes SOC 2.
What Samu doesn't do
Samu MCP can't analyze conversations that weren't captured. Regular phone calls made from a rep's cell phone line, outside WhatsApp and integrated telephony, aren't recorded. Chats a rep chose not to sync stay out, and so does an in-person meeting if nobody opened the app.
It doesn't guarantee the assistant's answer is right. Claude and ChatGPT can misread a conversation or overgeneralize, so ask for sources and check a few before a big decision.
FAQ
How do I analyze sales calls with ChatGPT or Claude without copying transcripts?
Connect ChatGPT or Claude to Samu MCP. The assistant queries every conversation you're allowed to see, tied to its deal, without anyone copying files, and the company knows who is connected. That avoids context limits and answers without deal history.
Does Samu MCP include WhatsApp, phone calls and in-person meetings?
Yes. Questions are answered over deals and all their interactions: synced WhatsApp chats, voice notes and groups, calls from integrated telephony and WhatsApp, in-person meetings recorded with the mobile app, video calls and CRM email. Calls from a rep's regular cell phone line are not recorded.
Which Samu plan includes the MCP?
Samu MCP is available from the Pro plan (US$250 a month, 5 users). Details are on plans and pricing.
What's the difference between Samu and a notetaker connected to ChatGPT?
A notetaker sees video calls. Samu also sees WhatsApp, phone and in-person meetings and organizes them by deal. If your team sells mostly through those channels, that's the difference between answering about the whole deal or a slice of it.
Conclusion
The answers to most sales questions are already in your conversations, and for many teams most of those happen on WhatsApp, on the phone or in person. What was missing was a way to query them together, from the assistant your team already uses, without losing control of who sees what. Samu MCP handles the connection; asking good questions is still your job. To put the answers to work in coaching, see how AI sales call scoring works.
